Guess the number

We have started with algebra already, and the last day we could check that magicians know really well how mathematics works.

I asked you to play this game:

1. Choose a number
2.  Add 5
3. Double the result
4. Subtract 4
5. Divide the result you get in step 4 by 2
6. Now subtract the original number

Oh,what a surprise! We all got 3. How is it possible? Is it magic? A miracle?
Of course not! It's just mathematics!

Let's check it out:

• Let x be the number we have chosen.

• If we add 5, then we get x+5

• Now we have to multiply by 2, so the new expression we get is 2x +10

• We subtract 4 and we have 2x + 6

• By dividing by 2 we get x + 3

• If we finally subtract the original number x in the expression,then we have the anwer 3
  

It doesn't matter what is the number you choose. The result is always the same: 3

So, here you have a trick to challenge friends and family.
